3rd Film Festival

Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University

The shift in digital video processing capabilities is causing video production to move from film studios to students' personal computers or laptops. Similarly to the transition of electronic documentary production from specialized studios to the author's desk twenty years ago, initial attempts at creating one's own creative film works are not free from beginner's mistakes: mastering the professions of writer, cinematographer, director and producer to realize a "film on a desk" is not easy. The intention of PV113 is therefore to enable students interested in this kind of low-budget filmmaking to realize their first films. By providing the appropriate equipment, software, background and under the gentle correction of the teachers, as in previous years, over a dozen short films were designed and produced and presented at this festival. Due to the zero budget of the films and the time of one semester in which they were created from the idea to the production, the viewer often has to be lenient with the result. I hope, however, that the presented films will bring much pleasure and knowledge to you, the audience, in addition to the authors.

About festival

The Film Festival of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University is the result of the efforts of MU students who, during two semesters in the courses PV110 Fundamentals of Film Speech and PV113 Production of Audiovisual Works, undergo complete training in practical film production, often without previous experience. In small teams and individually, they go through the entire process of preparing a short film from themes through literary and technical scripts, production, editing, post-production, and master the work of writers, directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, producers, editors, actors and others.
