25th Film Festival

Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University

Dear fans of movies and student films, for twenty-five years, The Film Festival of the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University has been bringing together students, lecturers, and all those who long to create, giving them the opportunity to express themselves through the language of film. The theme of the 25th season was “Break It!” The 25th FFFI MU took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. On the screen, students shattered: conspiracy theories about Brno, the comfort of a peaceful train ride, hearts after difficult breakups, and even a dystopian future where people are persecuted for memes. Held under the auspices of the dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Prof. Jiří Barnát, the Mayor of the Brno-střed district, Ing. arch. Vojtěch Mencl, and the Mayor of the City of Brno, JUDr. Markéta Vaňková, the festival—organized by MU students—took place both at the Faculty of Informatics and, for the first time, at Cinema City Velký Špalíček. Students participate in the festival’s preparations in several groups—developing their soft skills through organization and PR, their creativity through video production, visual design, and web creation, and their technical abilities through hands-on work.

About the festival

The Film Festival of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University is the result of the efforts of MU students who, during two semesters in the courses PV110 Fundamentals of Film Speech and PV113 Production of Audiovisual Works, undergo complete training in practical film production, often without previous experience. In small teams and individually, they go through the entire process of preparing a short film from themes through literary and technical scripts, production, editing, post-production, and master the work of writers, directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, producers, editors, actors and others.
